As I was getting ready to go to sleep, I caught a documentary on South Korean TV. One of the major stations there did a piece on America post 9-11. I was just amazed. Not only did they have the normal “you’re either with us or against us” schpiel, but they gave serious coverage to the anti-war movement. It was filled with interviews with some FoxNews anchors, Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Zbigniew Brzezinski (Carter’s National Security Advisor who started to deploy covert actions in Afghanistan prior to USSR occupation) and many more.
At times, being against war here in the US just seems hopeless. Watching this show reinstilled some faith in the movement. People out there are noticing that this war (or series of wars) is supported by the military-industrial complex. They recognize there is dissent within this country, and not all Americans are war hungry pigs. So I’m happy.
In other news, my secret Santa got me a keychain of a bear in bondage gear. I’m still laughing.
